COLOMBO (News 1st) – President Anura Kumara Dissanayake speaking to supporters on May Day emphasized that traditional political practices are no longer viable and called for a strategic, deliberate approach to transform Sri Lanka into a new society.

Dissanayake criticized those who falsely predicted the government's fall, stating that there are no shortcuts to rebuilding the nation.

He highlighted the need to lay a strong foundation, focusing on non-corrupt politics and national unity. "We cannot rebuild the nation without integrity at its core," he asserted.

The President pointed out that the government has made efforts to increase basic salaries and enhance allowances, demonstrating their understanding of the people's expectations.

He urged the public to move forward and embrace the new political movement aimed at strengthening the public service and creating a strong, efficient public sector.

Dissanayake invited trade unions to join hands in rebuilding the nation, emphasizing past support for their rights.

He dismissed claims that opposition movements have taken over villages, calling them lies and highlighting the scattered ideology of the opposition.
