Speaker Endorses Value Added Tax Amendment Bill

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Parliament Speaker, Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, endorsed the certificate on the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill. 

The Second Reading debate on the Bill was held on April 9, 2025, during which amendments were made in the Committee Stage. 

The Bill was subsequently passed in Parliament following its Third Reading, without a division.

The Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill was initially presented to Parliament for its First Reading on March 1, 2025. 

With the endorsement, the Bill now comes into force as the Value Added Tax (Amendment) Act, No. 04 of 2025.
