Namal Indicted in Krrish Deal; Granted Bail

COLOMBO (News 1st); Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa was served indictments on Tuesday (18) by the Colombo High Court in connection with the alleged criminal misappropriation of Rs. 70 million related to the Krrish deal. 



The indictments, filed by the Attorney General, were handed over in the presence of Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne.



Following the indictment, the court granted bail to Namal Rajapaksa, ordering his release on a cash bail of Rs. 100,000 and two sureties of Rs. 10 million each. 



Additionally, Judge Thilakaratne instructed that Rajapaksa's fingerprints be taken.



The case, initially filed at the Fort Magistrate's Court, has now been transferred to the High Court. 



Detectives from the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) were present in court and have been ordered to appear at the next hearing.



Deputy Solicitor General Wasantha Perera represented the Attorney General, while President's Counsel Sampath Mendis and a team of lawyers appeared on behalf of Namal Rajapaksa.
