COLOMBO (News1st); Train operations along the upcountry railway line have been restored.

The Department of Railways said a train plying from Badulla to Colombo derailed between Talawakelle and Watagoda on Thursday (13) causing disruptions to trains operating along that route.

The Department said, however, railway operations along the coastal line will continue to be delayed due to a separate derailment.

Train operations along the coastal line were disrupted on thursday (13) morning after a train derailed near the Panadura railway station.

Trains are only operating on one track along the coastal line, which is a route with two tracks.
