COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka High Commissioner to India Kshenuka Senewiratne together with Deputy High Commissioner Priyanga Wickramasinghe called on Nirmala Sitharaman to extend felicitations on her reappointment as India’s Finance Minister.
A statement by the High Commission Of Sri Lanka In New Delhi said that Sri Lanka looks forward to enhancing the enduring friendship & cooperation between Sri Lanka and India.
Nirmala Sitharaman was reappointed India's finance minister, a position she's held since 2019.
Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday (12) assumed charge as the Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister for the second consecutive term and is slated to soon present the final Budget for FY '25, that is going to set the tone for the Modi 3.0 government's priorities and direction for Viksit Bharat.
Sitharaman, who is credited with carrying forward second-generation reforms in her last term, would be creating a record by presenting the seventh Budget in a row and sixth full Budget consecutively.
She was the Finance Minister when India played a key role during Sri Lankan economic crisis supporting the country with a $4 bn bailout.
