British expert in Sri Lanka to examine plastic pellets from X-Press Pearl disaster

COLOMBO (News1st); Professor Richard Thompson, a British expert, has returned to Sri Lanka to examine the plastic pellets that washed up on the coast, following the X-Press Pearl disaster.

He will further examine the plastic pellets stored in warehouses in Puttalam and Wattala.

The Attorney General's Department said Michelle Traylor, an Australian lawyer, has also arrived in Sri Lanka to assist Thompson.

Prof. Thompson visited Sri Lanka on a prior occasion as well on an invitation from the Sri Lankan government and is due to compile a report on the impact of the plastic pellets on the Sea of Sri Lanka and the country's coast.

The report will be submitted for the compensation cases filed before the Singapore International Commercial Court and the London Admiralty Court.
