Senior Citizen Account Interest Rates: Inquiry Report Heads to President Next Week

State Minister for Finance, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, announced that the inquiry committee's report on rising interest rates for senior citizen accounts will be submitted to the President next week.

The announcement came during a meeting at the Ministry of Finance, where the committee convened.

The Ministry also revealed it is investigating the practice of individuals holding multiple bank accounts and potentially depositing funds belonging to others.

Separately, the meeting discussed proposals for salary and allowance increases for Samurdhi officers, Grama Niladhari officers, and government executive officers.
