COLOMBO (News 1st); The 8 Sri Lankan youths recently liberated from an enclave under the control of an armed faction along the Thai border in Myanmar are slated to return to Sri Lanka today.

Their arrival is anticipated via a SriLankan Airlines flight scheduled for 9:35 AM.

Upon landing, they will be received at Katunayake International Airport.

Janaka Bandara, the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Myanmar, has affirmed ongoing efforts to secure the release of the remaining 48 individuals.

Several months ago, reports surfaced regarding the captivity of 56 Sri Lankan youths within a region controlled by an armed faction along the Thai-Myanmar border.

It was alleged that they were coerced into involvement in various illicit cyber activities.
