Police Officers to be rewarded for apprehending drunk drivers

COLOMBO (News 1st); Police Officers who arrest drunk drivers will be rewarded.

The rewards to be given to the officers are based on instructions of the Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Indika Hapugoda says Police officers will be rewarded with a sum of Rs. 5000/- for each drunk driver apprehended.

Steps have also been taken to distribute one hundred and fifty thousand blood testing kits accross police stations to test drunk drivers during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Indika Hapugoda says 1500 Police officers have been deployed across the island for these operations.
