Organized criminal gangster fatally shot by Police STF

COLOMBO (News 1st); In a dramatic exchange of fire, a member of an organized criminal syndicate was fatally shot by the Police Special Task Force (STF) in the Buruthan Kanda area near Sooriyawewa. 

The operation took place late last night following intelligence that the suspect was hiding in a deserted house near the Adigama Wewa.

According to official reports, the STF moved to apprehend the suspect, leading to a confrontation resulting in the suspect's demise. 

The deceased has been identified as a 44-year-old resident from the Walasmulla area of Elpitiya.

Authorities link the individual to two fatal shootings: one near a meat shop in Mahabage on the 21st and another in the Chitthampahuwa area of Wellampitiya last August.
