Rupee Boost to Benefit Consumers: Lower Prices on Imported Goods From Next Month, Says Minister

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Trade, Commerce and Food Security says that the benefits of the Sri Lankan Rupee's appreciation against the US Dollar will be passed on to the people starting next month.

Minister Nalin Fernando says that the Rupee has gradually strengthened against the Dollar in recent months.

Accordingly, the prices of imported essential goods are expected to decrease.

The Minister adds that the government has implemented a special program to ensure an adequate supply of essential goods during the upcoming festive season.
