COLOMBO (News 1st); Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, Chairman of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) party, addressed his current standing within the party and his relationship with party leader Sajith Premadasa.
Fonseka categorically denied any intention of leaving the SJB, emphasizing his dedication to the party's principles and supporters.
"I don't want to abandon my supporters, I don't want to abandon the party principle," he stated, highlighting his commitment to the party he helped establish.
Addressing rumors of a rift with Premadasa, Fonseka clarified that their personal relationship remains intact. However, he expressed concerns about Premadasa's leadership, stating, "Sajith Premadasa must exhibit his leadership qualities and ensure that he handles issues professionally."
While ruling out joining the government currently, Fonseka did not shy away from criticizing its state, calling it a "sinking ship." He reiterated his willingness to cooperate with Premadasa as long as the party's core objectives remain unchanged, implying potential disagreements on current strategies.
