COLOMBO (News 1st); The highly anticipated GCE Advanced Level (A/L) examinations for the year 2023 kicked off today, with over 346,976 candidates sitting for the exams across 2,298 examination centers nationwide.

However, acknowledging the ongoing challenges posed by recent heavy rains and natural disasters in certain areas, the Department of Examinations has implemented special measures to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all students.

A dedicated examination center has been established at Manampitiya Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya to cater specifically to students from the Welikanda Aralaganwila and Dimbulagala educational divisions affected by the weather.

This center provides facilities for aspirants to sit for all examination subjects.

Furthermore, two new examination coordination centers have been established at Galkiriagama Central College and Lunugala College to streamline logistics and support in these areas.

In case of any disaster situation, students can reach the Disaster Management Center at 117 for assistance with transportation or other essential needs.

Additionally, the examination department can be contacted at 1911 for any emergencies during the exam period.

The GCE A/L examinations are scheduled to continue until January 31st, 2024
