Sri Lankan man likely held hostage by Hamas - Israel

COLOMBO (News 1st); Israel's Foreign Ministry has informed Sri Lanka that it suspects that Sri Lankan national Sujith Bandara Yatawara who was reported missing after the Hamas-led attack, could have been detained and held hostage by the group operating from Gaza.

Sri Lankan Ambassador to Israel Nimal Bandara said that the Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs made a formal announcement in this regard. 

Sujith Bandara Yatawara was reported missing from the 7th of October, following the commencement of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

DNA samples obtained from his children have already been sent to relevant authorities in Israel for futher investigations. 

Sri Lankan Ambassador to Israel Nimal Bandara said that steps are being taken to secure the immedaite release of Sujith Bandara Yatawara from captivity. 

Sujith Bandara Yatawara is a father of two, and a resident of Wennappuwa.
