"The 3 Sri Lankan families in Palestine are safe."

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Sri Lankan representative office in Palestine is collaborating with the Red Cross organization to evacuate Sri Lankans residing in the Gaza Strip. 

According to Bennet Cooray, the head of the office, there are 17 Sri Lankans living in the Gaza Strip, including three families. 

He added that one family has been in the region for over 23 years, another for over 5 years, and the third for 6 months, having traveled from Egypt. 

He stressed that efforts are currently underway to ensure their safe passage, and Cooray emphasized that they are presently safe.
