PRESIDENT IN CHINA: A 4-day visit and talks on debt restructuring expected

COLOMBO (News 1st) - President Ranil Wickremesinghe left for China on an official 4-day visit on Sunday (15) night.

The President is set to discuss debt restructuring and participate in the conference to mark the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative.

This will be his first visit to China after taking office and he will be visiting the country until the 20th of October.

He will also hold discussions with many high-ranking Chinese officials on the sidelines of the conference.

Accordingly,

  • State Minister Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon was appointed the Acting Minister of Defence

  • State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya was appointed the Acting Minister of Finance

  • State Minister Kanaka Herath was appointed as the Acting Minister of Technology

  • State Minister Anupa Pasqual was appointed as the Acting Minister of Women and Child Affairs

  • And the Minister of Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation Pavithra Wanniarachchi will be appointed as the Acting Minister of Environment.
