COLOMBO (News 1st) – The 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly commences on Monday (18) in New York, U.S.A. 

This year's theme for the assembly is "Rebuilding Trust and Reinventing Global Cooperation to Accelerate Action to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals Based on Peace, Prosperity, Progress, and Sustainability for the 2030 Agenda." The conference is scheduled to run until the 21st of the month.

President Ranil Wickramasinghe is slated to address the session on the 21st of September and will also take part in the meeting of leaders of the Sustainable Development Goals Summit, which is scheduled for today.

In addition, the President is set to engage in bilateral discussions with foreign leaders on the sidelines of the assembly and participate in dialogues involving Indo-Pacific Island States.
