Insulin and sleeping pills used to commit murder in Kopai - Police

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police said that investigations have revealed that the 12-year-old girl who was found dead inside a rest house in Thiranaveli, Kopai was  in fact murdered.

Police said that investigations revealed that the woman she was with in the rest house had injected her with insulin, and also given her sleeping pills in order to kill her.

Police inspected the rest house after an employee informed of a bad odour being reported from one of the rooms, on the 12th of September.

Sri Lanka Police said that in addition to discovering the body of the girl, they also found a woman unconscious in another bed in the same room, and she was rushed to the Jaffna Hospital in an ambulance.

The 63-year-old woman was arrested over the crime, and she continues to receive treatment at the Jaffna Hospital.
