Heat advisory from Met Department

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Meteorology says that the heat index, or the temperature felt on the human body is expected to increase up to a ‘Caution’ level
at some places in the North-central and Eastern provinces. 

The Department requests the public to follow the instructions given below.

Job sites: Stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade as often as possible.

Indoors: Check up on the elderly and the sick.

Vehicles: Never leave children unattended.

Outdoors: Limit strenuous outdoor activities, find shade and stay hydrated.

Dress: Wear lightweight and white or light-colored clothing.

The Disaster Management Centre says that the number of people affected by the current arid weather condition has risen to 280,230.
