Heat Advisory issued for multiple provinces

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning in light of the high heat levels expected on Thursday (24), as per the heat index. 

The Northern, North Central, and Eastern provinces are expected to be affected.

The department added that the heat index is forecasted to reach high levels in the Vavuniya, Mullaitivu, and Monaragala districts.

To mitigate potential risks associated with these arid weather conditions, the Department of Meteorology advises ensuring proper hydration, staying in the shade whenever possible, and wearing light-colored or white clothing to minimize heat absorption. 

The department said that the elderly and those with sensitive health conditions should take extra precautions as well in this regard. 

The Department of Meteorology added that strenuous physical activities should be minimized as well.
