Australia delivers crucial life-saving medicine

COLOMBO (News 1st); Life saving medical equipment worth nearly USD 1.3 million was provided to Sri Lanka, by the Australian Government and the United Nations Population Fund.

Life-saving medical equipment and commodities related to sexual and reproductive health, and maternal and child health services, were handed over to Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health.

The handing over ceremony was held at the Ministry of Health on Wednesday (16), with Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardhane and Health Ministry officials in attendance.

The handover consisted of 30 delivery beds, 20 mini-autoclaves, 6 weighing scales, 16,500 Jadelle, 31,500 non-hormonal IUDs, 900 HIV test kits, and 300 Syphilis test kits.

The procurement of these medical equipment highlights the vital support given by the Australian Government and the UNFPA to the Sri Lankan health care sector.
