COLOMBO (News 1st); The All Ceylon Egg Producer's Association said that the retail price of a White and Brown Egg was reduced to Rs. 55/-.
The Sri Lanka Association of Animal Production earlier said that the prices of eggs would decrease with the removal of control prices.
The chairman of the association, Ajith Gunasekara says that the price of eggs rose due to the lack of supply that was witnessed with control prices in place.

Gunasekara says when the control price for eggs was imposed, suppliers as well as egg producers were severely burdened.
The Sri Lanka State Trading Corporation says one million eggs imported from India are released to Sri Lanka's retail market daily.
Its chairman, Asiri Walisundara says the stocks of eggs are sold through Sathosa and other supermarkets.
