Constitutional Council to convene

COLOMBO(News 1st): The Constitutional Council is set to convene today. 

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana says the Constitutional Council will convene to discuss a number of matters including the approval to extend the tenure of Inspector General of Police C.D. Wickremeratne.

Wickremeratne's position as IGP was extended by three months recently. 

The Secretary to the President subsequently forwarded his name to the Constitutional Council.
