COLOMBO (News 1st) - President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles are set to hold a crucial discussion on Sunday (09) regarding the vacant position of the Inspector General of Police. The Ministry of Public Security has confirmed that a final decision will be reached regarding the appointment during the discussion scheduled for Sunday evening (09).
The post of Inspector General of Police has remained unfilled for nearly 14 days since the retirement of former IGP C. D. Wickramaratne on June 26. Meanwhile, Speaker of Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has stated that the President has not yet submitted any recommendations for the approval of the Constitutional Council regarding the vacant position of Inspector General of Police.
