Ministry urges bakery owners to reduce prices

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Minister of Trade, Commerce, and Food Security Minister Nalin Fernando, has made an official request to bakery owners, to consider reducing the prices of bread and bakery products by 10 rupees.

Minister Fernando emphasized that the government has already provided several concessions to support bakery owners in managing their operations effectively.

Responding to the inquiry on this matter, N. K. Jayawardena, the President of the All Ceylon Bakery Owners' Association, says that no decision has been reached thus far regarding a decrease in the prices of bread and bakery products. However, Jayawardena acknowledged the request and assured that he will explore the feasibility of such a reduction in the coming days.
