COLOMBO (News 1st) - Legal proceedings are underway to reduce medicine prices by 16% from June 15.

"Measures will be taken to conduct a review and then reduce the prices of medicine every three months," Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella said.

"It will be possible to complete tasks including minimizing the medicine shortage and reducing prices, by around 90%, over the next two months," he said.

Measures have been taken to send another 406 doctors for their internship before June 27.

"Measures will be taken to recruit 2,200 nurses by July," he said.

"222 family health service officers were appointed recently and around 600 more are being trained," the Health Minister said.
