'Justice For All' alarmed by undemocratic measures taken by President & his government

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Justice For All is alarmed by the undemocratic measures pursued by President Ranil Wickremasinghe and his government that continue to undermine the rule of law, fundamental rights and democracy in Sri Lanka.

The statement draws attention to the Broadcasting Regulatory Commission describing it as "the most recent tool in the playbook to restrict media freedom with alarming consequences for freedom of expression in Sri Lanka".

Justice for All also recognizes a context of increased surveillance, intimidation, and harassment of journalists, protesters, and others critical of the government and government-sanctioned actions by law enforcement authorities and the military.

The statement pointed out that the President and his government do not recognize the suffering of the people, and the delay to hold elections has stripped the country 
of its democratic character.
