Kanchana calls for privileges committee probe

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera has requested the speaker to conduct an investigation via the Parliamentary Privileges Committee citing that reports published by certain websites had violated his privileges

"I have asked the Hon Speaker to call the relevant personal & media organizations involved in making false statements & publishing false statements to the Parliament Privileges Committee," tweeted the Minister on Tuesday (30).

The letter addressed to the speaker, shared by the Minister, noted that the comments made by MP Chaminda Wijesiri in parliament on the 24th of May 2023, were used by the media and those reports had grossly violated his privileges.
