No Chemical or Oil leak from wreck of the X-Press Pearl

COLOMBO (News 1st); No Chemical or Oil leak reported from the wreck of the X-Press Pearl, said Sri Lanka's Marine Environment Protection Authority, quoting the country's navy.

On the 28th of May 2023, media reports suggested that a chemical leak was observed at the site of the wreck, and the Sri Lanka Navy, and the Marine Protection Authority dispatched its personnel on the morning on the morning of the 29th of May 2023 for an investigation, said a statement.

MEPA added that samples were obtained from the sea area in question for further investigation.
