Heated confrontation at war memorial in Colombo

COLOMBO (News 1st); A tense situation arose when a group that gathered to commemorate the lives lost during the Mullivaikkal battle were obstructed by another group. 

The commemoration was organized by a group of religious leaders and members of the civil society. 

TNA Parliamentarian Shanakiya Rasamanickam was also present at the commemoration. 

A group had gathered for the commemoration at about 10.45 am today and began the commemoration by lighting lamps.

However another group arrived at the location and began to protest against the commemoration.
