New Electricity Act at final stage of drafting - Min. Kanchana

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The new Electricity Act, which will unbundle the Ceylon Electricity Board and begin the reforms, is at the final stage of drafting.

"The amended draft copies will be shared with stakeholders, development agencies, and reforms experts to get their observations and recommendations for the final draft," Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekara tweeted.

The final draft will be shared with the Legal Draftsman and the Attorney General's Department for certification by the end of May.

It will then be presented to the Cabinet of Ministers for approval after the certification, and to the Parliament, he added.
