FUTA to meet President on Thursday (18)

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Federation of University Teachers' Associations (FUTA) will meet with President Ranil Wickremesinghe next Thursday (18).

The discussions will focus on the issues concerning the university teachers, the FUTA Spokesperson said.

In the meantime, the AL exam paper evaluations will conclude next month, Commissioner of Examinations Amith Jayasundara said.

"The evaluation of two subjects has concluded," he said, "Paper marking for six subjects is currently underway, while the paper marking process for other subjects will begin next week".

The University of Kelaniya, the University of Peradeniya, and the University of Rajarata are experiencing a shortage of about 450 academic staff members, FUTA pointed out.

This is due to the rise in the number of academic staff leaving the service.
