Turkey reports that the alleged Islamic State leader Qurayshi has died in Syria

Colombo (News1st) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that Turkish forces had killed the alleged commander of the Islamic State (IS) organization in Syria.

After his predecessor was assassinated last autumn, Abu Hussein al-Qurayshi is said to have assumed leadership of the organization.

Erdogan said foreign media that on Saturday operation by the Turkish MIT intelligence agency "neutralized" the IS leader.

IS hasn't commented on the alleged operation thus far.
