COLOMBO (News 1st); The Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) said the detailed report including the compensation for the damage caused to the Sea of Sri Lanka by the X-Press Pearl disaster has not been completed thus far.
Chairman Asela B. Rekawa said he requested a discussion with the Attorney General to find further information on how to prepare the relevant report.
He added that the report will be compiled based on the discussion.
The discussion has been requested due to the unclear situation regarding the manner in which the Attorney General's Department has summoned the report.
A case was filed in a Singapore court to seek compensation for the damage caused to the environment due to the X-Press Pearl disaster.
The relevant report has been called from the Marine Environment Protection Authority to inform the court regarding the amount of compensation expected.
