Drug shortage gradually easing, says Ministry of Health

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Health stated that the issue of the shortage of medicines in the country is gradually easing.

Dr. Saman Rathnayake the Additional Secretary says more than 170 types of medicines were in short supply in this country, almost a month ago. He added that the number of drugs in shortage has reduced to less than 100 as of now.

Dr. Rathnayake said that provisions were made for the purchase of 60 types of drugs which are in short supply in hospitals as well.
