COLOMBO (News 1st) - The annual "Hisa Thel Geema" ceremony for anointing with the auspicious Sinhala and Tamil New Year oil will take place at 9:41 am, according to astrological calculations. During the ceremony, it is customary to wear red and yellow attire, face south, and adorn the head with imbul leaves and the feet with banyan leaves before being anointed with oil mixed with imbul leaves.

Additionally, the auspicious time for starting work on the New Year has been determined to be 6:28 am. To ensure good fortune, it is recommended to dress in white clothing, consume milk rice and sweets, and set off for work facing the south.
