COLOMBO (News 1st); The Consumer Affairs Authority said they commenced special raids to locate traders who violate consumer laws during the festive season.

The raids will continue until the 25th of April.

Under these operations, teams have been assigned to inspect warehouses and retail outlets of essential food items at district level.

Shops selling clothes, electrical equipment and gift items will also be inspected under these operations.

The Consumer Affairs Authority said strict action will be taken against sellers who violate the Consumer Affairs Authority Act, including selling expired products and selling products with conditions.
