Colombo (News 1st) –

The Head of Nigeria’s National Electoral Commission on Saturday apologized to voters for delays being experienced in some parts of the country in the largest ever election in history on the continent of Africa.

Election chief Mahmood Yakubu told a media briefing that voting materials had arrived late at some polling booths due to security issues. There have been several attacks on polling units and several voting machines have been stolen, but have been quickly replaced.

More than 87 million people were eligible to vote in Africa’s largest populated country, to replace President Muhammadu Buhari who is completing the last of his two-terms, in a race in which there are three main contenders.
