Petition against LG Election to be taken up on Monday (20)

COLOMBO (News 1st); A writ application filed by Retired Sri Lanka Army Colonel W. M. R. Wijesundara seeking an order to invalidate the preparations being made for the Local Government Election will be taken up at the Supreme Court on Monday (20).

The application was first taken up on the 10th of February, and thereafter the Supreme Court ordered for the matter to be called up again on the 23rd of February for further consideration.

Retired Sri Lanka Army Colonel W. M. R. Wijesundara filed a motion with the Supreme Court seeking for this application to be taken up ahead of the 23rd of February.

The National Election Commission had earlier declared that postal voting would take place on the 23rd of February.

Accordingly, the application will be taken up on Monday (20).
