Sri Lanka planning to set up new Elephant Corridors

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka has decided to create several new Elephant Corridors in an attempt to solve the Human Elephant Conflict.

The Ministry of Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation said that the elephant corridors will be constructed by clearing certain sections of forest lands that have been designated to be used to solve the Human Elephant Conflict.

Wildlife Secretary R. M. C. M. Herath said that process of identifying suitable areas is underway.

She said that the new Elephant Corridors will be set up in areas far from human settlements.
