Colombo (News 1st) – Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister Ali Sabry said that nine Sri Lankans were known to have been living in the region devastated by an earthquake on Monday morning, of whom eight have been contacted. The Sri Lankan embassy in the capital, Ankara, has not been able to reach the ninth Sri Lankan, as he had moved out of his residence but not informed the embassy.

The Foreign Ministry was uncertain as to whether there were any Sri Lankan tourists in the region at this time who may have been affected. But this is unlikely at this time of year with the freezing weather.
