Charge sheet being prepared to remove PUCSL Chairman -Minister Kanchana Wijesekera

Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera says a charge sheet is being prepared to remove Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka Janaka Ratnayake. 

Speaking during a media briefing this morning (29) the Minister said all ruling party MPs approved the move.

He said the government will also seek legal action against the PUCSL Chairman, for acting in an arbitrary manner within the Commission.

State Minister Wijesekera claimed that Janaka Ratnayake had inconvenienced the people of Sri Lanka with power cuts, by misleading PUCSL officials.

The State Minister said therefore action will be taken against the PUCSL Chairman based on Parliament provisions.

State Minister Wijesekera said he will also present facts in Court against the members of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka regarding intimidating Ministry officials.

He said the Human Rights Commission summoned Ministry officials, and attempted to influence them to reach various decisions including to provide electricity free of charge.

The State Minister said they were intimidated by stating legal action will be taken against them under various charges including influencing the Human Rights Commission.

In response to the Minister's statement, PUCSL Chairman Janaka Ratnayake said he is eagerly awaiting the charge sheet to be sent against him.
