Diana Gamage Citizenship: Court wants UK High Commission records

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Colombo Chief Magistrate on Thursday (5) ordered the Criminal Investigations Department to obtain the necessary records on State Minister Diana Gamage's citizenship from the UK High Commission in Colombo, and conduct investigations.

Civil Activist Oshala Herath had filed a complaint with the court stating that the birth certificate, national identity card, and passport of State Minister Diana Gamage are fake, and requested an immediate investigation.

When the matter was taken up on Thursday (5), the Colombo Chief Magistrate issued the relevant order to the CID.

The Chief Minister had noted that it would be easy for the court to issue necessary orders over the matter after the reports from the UK High Commission are made available and noted that it would not be wise to issue an order to arrest the State Minister and produce her in court until then.
