Over 1,600 affected by inclement weather during weekend

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Sri Lanka's Disaster Management Center said that 1,675 people from 387 families were affected by the inclement weahter that battered most parts of the island during the weekend.

Two people had died and another seven were injured.

The two fatalities were reported following an earth slip in Akurana, Kandy due to the heavy rains.

They died after a rock fell on a house in Dunuwila, Akurana.

In addition, 109 houses were damaged while one house in Akurana was completely destroyed.
