COLOMBO (News 1st) – Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena endorsed the certificate on the “Appropriation (Amendment)” Bill which was passed in Parliament on Wednesday (30).

This bill to amend Appropriation Act No. 30 of 2021 was presented by the Prime Minister and Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government Dinesh Gunawardena on 15th of November, 2022.

Accordingly, paragraph (b) of subsection (1) of section 2 of the Appropriation Act, No. 30 of 2021 will be amended in order to increase the borrowing limit of rupees 3,844 billion to rupees 4,507 billion. 

Accordingly, this bill will come into effect from Wednesday (30) as the Appropriation (Amendment) Act No. 42 of 2022.
