FIFA World Cup: Argentina advance to last 16 with victory over Poland

COLOMBO (News 1st)  - Argentina has beaten Poland 2-0 and qualified for the knockout stage of the 2022 World Cup. They will play Australia in the round of 16.

Alexis Mac Allister scored the opening goal of the game after Wojciech Szczesny denied Lionel Messi from the penalty spot with a brilliant spot. Julian Alvarez added the second.

Poland also made it through to the round of 16 despite their defeat, as they overcame Mexico on a goal difference. Mexico could only beat Saudi Arabia 2-1 in the other group-stage match.

Poland will next take on reigning world champions France.
