Semasinghe meets IMF Director at IMF & WB summit

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A delegation from Sri Lanka, including the State Minister of Finance, Shehan Semasinghe, met with the Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kenji Okamura.

The State Minister met with the IMF Director at the annual summit of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, which is currently underway at the United States.

The necessary next steps to get the approval of the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund for the proposed Extended Fund Facility have been discussed between the State Minister and the IMF Director at the meeting.

Recent economic trends in Sri Lanka were also discussed at length during the meeting.

The alternative Executive Director of International Monetary Fund Dr. Chandranath Amarasekara, Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe and the Treasury Secretary Mahinda Siriwardena were present at the event.
