USD 100Mn credit line from India for rooftop solar project

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A USD 100 million Line of Credit has been extended by the Government of India to install rooftop solar panels at select institutions.

A progress review meeting was recently held at the Ministry of Power on the project recently, and according to the Minister Kanchana Wijesekara,  rooftop solar will be used to equip government institutions, schools, hospitals, universities, educational and vocational training institutions, military and police stations, district secretariats, regional secretariats and places of religious worship. 

In addition to the Minister and State Minister of Power and Energy, officials from the High Commission of India, Sustainable Energy Authority and Ceylon Electricity Board participated in the event.
