Over 1,600 displaced due to inclement weather

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Police say that 1,620 people have been displaced in many areas due to the Kelani river overflowing.
 
The police stated that due to the inundation of a road in the Biyagama Police Division, 682 families in Malwana, Yabaraluwa North, Yabaraluwa South, Biyagama East and South have been relocated to safe places.

Accordingly, the section of Biyagama- Kelaniya road from Bandarawatta Junction to Raggahawatta Bridge, the junction towards Malwana from Bandarawatta, Rakshapana area on the Malwana-Colombo road and the 13th post of the Yabaraluwa lowlands of the new Kandy road were inundated, and Police informed all drivers to use alternative routes.
