COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Meteorological Department reports that the highest amount of rainfall has been reported from the Avissawella area within Wednesday (12), resulting in 103.0mm of rainfall.
Accordingly, the prevailing showery condition is expected to continue (southwest quarter) during next 24 hours due to the low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of the island.
Moreover, showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, North-Western, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts. Heavy rainfall above 100 mm can be expected at some places in these areas.
Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm can be expected elsewhere of the island.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
